Alabama may have the best safety duo in college football in the coming fall

Alabama football has young pieces in its defensive secondary, but two veteran players are training this summer to become the best duo in the collegiate game for the coming fall.

Malachi Moore and Keon Sabb, a transfer from Michigan, played well off each other in spring practice at safety. 

Moore, a former four-star in the 2020 signing class, brought Sabb in and showed him the Crimson Tide’s culture. Sabb, who helped the Wolverines capture a College Football Playoff National Championship last year, caught on quickly and continues to train with Moore to be better. Moore is training with Jacory Way, one of the best private defensive back trainers/developers.

Way has Moore perfecting his backpedaling, breaking on the ball, flipping hips fluidly, controlling footwork when coming downhill in run support, and high-pointing interceptions.

The Trussville (Ala.) native spends time with Justin Woodall, a former Alabama safety, to get work in as well. Moore, a three-time Southeastern Conference Champion, earned an incredible honor in 2023 — becoming a permanent team captain.

He finished last season as one of the team’s top tacklers (52 stops) and had five tackles for loss, five pass breakups, a quarterback hurry, and an interception. Moore knows that a marquee campaign in the fall positions him to be a first-round NFL Draft pick. He is prepared to everything possible to win a national title and be a day one NFL starter.
